Saturday Morning in Williamsburg: Dunkin' Donuts Grand Opening on Metropolitan Avenue off Union Avenue
It is going to be a great year for those of us who live in this part of Williamsburg because this morning a brand-new wonderful Dunkin' Donuts had its grand opening on Metropolitan Avenue, just off Union Avenue and steps away from the Lorimer Street/Metropolitan Avenue L/G subway entrance.
We welcome the new Dunkin Donuts to the neighborhood and look forward to not schlepping to Graham Avenue for iced tea with lemon anymore. Ever since Tao Lin moved out from the apartment above that Dunkin' Donuts, it just hasn't been the same.

Monday Afternoon in Williamsburg: Dominican Election Poster on Graham and Metropolitan Avenues

Like the U.S., the D.R. is looking forward to the next election, and candidates' workers have been "sniping" (putting up posters) Metropolitan Avenue and Graham Avenue with signs exhorting people to get out and vote for their candidates for the Chamber of Deputies. This is from the leftist opposition party PRD, and we're sure there will soon be other posters around the neighborhood.

Monday Afternoon in Williamsburg: Sign of Spring on Devoe Street

After a long, hard winter, it's great to see the first tree blooming. This afternoon, as we were walking towards Graham Avenue from the Leonard Branch library down Devoe Street (pronounced "Duh-voo" by us natives, as opposed to those in the new majority who pronounce it to rhyme with oh), we said "Ohh" aloud when we saw the pink flowers on this tree near the intersection of Manhattan Avenue, in the house next to the always-delightful Fortunato Brothers. Every year, it's the first tree in the neighborhood to bloom.
