Arizona Luminaria article on AZ-07 congressional candidates' position on immigration includes No Labels Party candidate Richard Grayson
Fiction writer and perennial candidate for Congress, Grayson said he was running with the No Labels party to “sabotage them.” Accusing the party of running as “spoilers,” he worries they will soon start to make regular appearances on the ballot in Arizona.
“I particularly hate the No Labels people,” Grayson said.
As a candidate for the presidential primary race in 2012, Grayson told Tucson Weekly that Republicans should be deported to the 18th century.
Grayson called running for Congress “a hobby” — he also ran for Congress in Alaska in 2024 and he is running for Congress in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District in 2026 — and said current immigration politics were “insane.”
“I’m outraged by people having no due process,” he said.
He said that deporting people is against America’s own interest, noting the dropping birth rate among native-born Americans. “They think we’re going to make babies all of a sudden, force people to make babies like the ‘Handmaid’s Tale’?”
He added, about immigrants: “We need these people.”
“Most of the undocumented people I know are better Americans than a lot of the native-born residents I know.”
Message to immigrants in the district: “It’s time to hit the panic button for democracy. It’s like the building is burning and you are talking like, ‘Oh, we should redecorate.’ It seems like no one has the urgency of the moment.”

Arizona Luminaria article on AZ-07 congressional candidates' residences mentions No Labels Party candidate Richard Grayson
Richard Grayson is running as a No Labels write-in candidate and has previously been registered with the Green and Democratic parties. He lives in Apache Junction in District 5. On June 6, he told Arizona Luminaria, “I believe today was the first time I ever set foot in the district.” Grayson describes running for Congress as his hobby, and he has previously run in Arizona, Florida, Wyoming and Alaska.
“I believe my not living in any part of the district would be an advantage, as I would not favor any part of the district over another. Tucson, Tolleson, Yuma, Nogales — they’re all the same to me!” he said in an email.

Arizona Daily Star/Tucson.com publishes letter by Richard Grayson on Arizona Clean Elections Commission
The Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission purports to be a strictly nonpartisan organization that “seeks to improve the integrity of Arizona state government and promote public confidence in the Arizona political process.” Yet on its website of the current candidates running for U.S. Representative in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District, every Republican and Democratic candidate has their campaign statement from the Arizona Secretary of State’s listing included, while those of the two Green Party candidates and the one No Labels Party candidate (myself) are excluded and do not appear. This is a clear example of what hypocrites this so-called Clean Elections Commission are: They are obviously favoring some candidates over others and should no longer be trusted. Not all Arizona voters are registered with the two major parties.
