Sunday Morning in Encino: Breakfast at Encino Park

An overcast Sunday morning in Los Angeles is always a treat. We got ourselves some breakfast goodies at Encino Glatt Market
and took our kosher vittles there to munch on a picnic table at every-lovely Encino Park.
More energetic men were playing basketball
while a shopping-cart lady just rested.
Near us were white wildflowers in the grass.
Everything was quiet,
and almost no one else was around. Just the way we like it.
Letting our mind wander, we suddenly remembered that this exact weekend 21 years ago, back in 1991, we were leading workshops in short story writing and publicity at a Cal State Long Beach writers' conference
during our first trip to Southern California, when we first fell in love with L.A.
We were grateful for the cloudy early morning and were grateful when the sun came out as we drove away on Ventura Boulevard.
