Saturday Morning in Cypress Hills: Breakfast in HIghland Park
Early this morning, we went out with some portable breakfast stuff and took the J train at Marcy Avenue east to Norwood Avenue in Cypress Hills.
We walked up Norwood a few blocks to the Cypress Hills Cemetery to what it is, we think, the Highland Park neighborhood, and then took a walk through the jewel that is Highland Park itself, stopping to eat at one of the picnic tables in the park's upper highlands with their spectacular views.
We made our way out of the park after using the playground restroom and found ourselves amid pretty homes on Highland Boulevard. Then we walked to Jamaica Avenue, where we got the Q56 bus right away to take us to Broadway Junction and a trip back home to Williamsburg on the J train.
We're grateful we got to explore Highland Park on a cloudy, cool summer morning. We hadn't been around here since the early 1970s.
