Early Sunday Morning in Lower Manhattan: Ten Years after 9/11

As we got off the J train at Chambers Street to go to our 9:00 a.m. class at Borough of Manhattan Community College, we saw some of the people out for the tenth annivesary of the September 11, 2001 attacks at the World Trade Center a few blocks away.

People were handing out flags, Bibles, prayer books. The 9/11 families were getting off buses and vans. Some wore T-shirts with the names and pictures of their loved ones. Photographers were out in force, and reporters were interviewing first responders and survivors and family members. White memorial ribbons festooned Trinity Church.

The streets below Chambers Street were blocked off to everyone except those who had passes.
